With the expectation of an upturn, one should not neglect the importance of having an effective fraud control mechanism as fraud and economic crime continue to be the key risks. Fraudsters and computer hackers are also eyeing the upturn as an opportunity when organisations become more focused on gaining profit than preventing leaks. This seminar will highlight key trends from the recent PwC Survey — the Global Economic Crime Survey. We will also be sharing recommended practices and responsive actions that an organisation could take. We will also share with you our experiences in applying data mining techniques to detect irregularities in financial/business transactions. Antoinette Lau is an Associate Director of PricewaterhouseCoopers (“PwC”) Forensic Services Practise in Hong Kong. Her work involves providing assistance to clients and their legal advisors involved in dispute or potential dispute situations and carrying out forensic accounting investigations. Prior to joining PwC, she had worked for the Securities and Futures Commission and the Independent Commission Against Corruption where she has gained extensive experience of fraud and commercial crime investigations in Hong Kong.
