As reliance on information technology and the internet has increased, we are seeing growing concerns about cyber security and resilience. Technology trends, such as cloud computing and mobile technology, are creating new challenges for traditional approaches to information security. Media reports, industry surveys and anecdotal evidence all suggest a growth in possible sources of threat and volumes of security breaches. And governments are showing more interest in the area, as they try to manage risks around the critical national infrastructure and build trust in the digital economy more broadly. But is there really anything new about ‘cyber’? What should business priorities be? And how do security concerns relate to wider discussions on privacy and intellectual property in a digital world? The session will draw on ICAEW's publications Audit Insights: Cyber Security and Building trust in the digital age.

Topic - Risk, Compliance and Digital Forensics in Algorithmic Financial System

Seats are limited and will be allocated on a first-come-first-served basis.

Financial trading is now a million miles away from men in suits shouting and waving bits of paper at each other.  They don’t just do it from their computer screens.  But many use algorithms to make trading decisions in micro or nano second.  Both opportunities and risks are emerging as the global financial landscape is being changed by innovative ICT (Information and Communication Technology), big data analytics and quantitative trading models. Due to the complexity of the financial systems, electronic trading glitches and execution erroneous occurrences cost huge loses. What are the possible causes? Poor knowledge? Inadequate corporate ICT governance?
