In October 2006, the Office of the Privacy Commissioner for Personal Data (PCPD) launched the Information Security Enhancement Campaign ("ISEC") jointly with the Information Systems Audit and Control Association (HK Chapter), Internet Professional Association and Hong Kong Institute of Engineers appealing to IT practitioners to comply with the requirements of the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance.

The PCPD organized a public seminar on "Protecting Personal Data in the Electronic Media" in March 2007 to raise privacy awareness among IT professionals.
